The Beaver Island Youth Consortium is sponsoring the 4th of July Carnival 2001.  We are asking for volunteers to set up the games, tear down the games, and help with the games.  Also we are accepting money donations from anyone who would like to support the Carnival.  We have purchased all new prizes this year and repainted some of the old games.  You can help us make this annual event successful.  Please contact  B.I.Y.C. Director, Mary Jane Martin at 448-2342 or maryjaneh@beaverisland.k12.mi.us  Please send all donations to: Beaver Island Youth Consortium, P.O. Box 235, Beaver Island, MI 49782.  Thank You !

Baccalaureate at Holy Cross

Two weeks ago the Beaver Island Christian Church held it's Baccalaureate service to honor the graduating class of 2001.  This week Holy Cross Catholic Church did the same.  Father Pat presented each senior with a book by Anna Quindlen, "A Short Guide to a Happy Life" and offered each the best wishes of the entire community.

New Member

On Sunday, June 3rd, B. J. Wyckoff became the newest member of the Holy Cross Church.  Sharing the limelight with the graduating class, B. J. was confirmed by Father Pat and welcomed into the church family.  B. J.'s sponsors for confirmation were Pinky Harmon and John Fiegan.  Congratulations B. J.

Just a Note

I must be getting too "wordy" as this News page keeps growing bigger every week.  I'm sure there are things happening on the island that I have missed and for that I apologize.  If you have something you'd like to see here (an upcoming event, birth, death, whatever) or if you want me to shorten things up a bit, please don't hesitate to email me and let me know or tell me in the forum.  Having a daughter as part of the graduating class this year, the change-over of the News page on Wednesday afternoon may be a little skimpy as we try to get ready for her big day.  I'll catch up the following on Monday with all that's going on.  Thanks for your patience.
