Trash Disposal Information

Outside hoppers are for people leaving Beaver Island ONLY. Any person caught leaving items other than green bags with be subject to fines.

All waste must be put in GREEN bags.

Green bags may be purchased at McDonough's Market, Power's Hardware, and The Station.

Non-green bags will be accepted during business hours only.

Non-green bag fee is $3, but be prepared for higher prices on larger bags (as per Waste Manangement Committee discussion).

Please call ahead for large loads.

Recycle Information

Glass: Green, brown, amber, and clear glass are accepted. Please rinse and remove everything that is not paper (caps, rings, foil, etc.)

Plastic #1 to #7. Rinsed and caps off.

No five (5) gallon plastic buckets.

Cardboard: Clean, dry, flattened.

Newspaper: In a paper bag or tied in a bundle.

Glossy paper: Magazines and catalogs.

Office and computer paper: No cross cut/shredded.

No manila folders, bold color paper, greeting cards, Kleenex, or paper towel.

Tin cans: Flattened.

Aluminum cans

Cloth: Clean and dry only.

Books: Hardcover and paperback.

Used motor oil

Batteries: All sized household batteries.

Water-based paint--(Must be dry or kitty-littered)
