2009 June 8-14 Barney's Lake Pictures

While the loon is still on the nest on the small island in Barney's Lake, the mute swans have moved on. They are no longer on Barney's Lake. They left eggs in the nest, and, for some reason, just left the lake. They have not been seen in four days anywhere near Barney's Lake. The Caspian tern is still out there feeding and the loon is still sitting on the nest.

The turtles seem to have taken over the mute swan nest

The loon stays on the nest

Soaring and then diving for food in the shallows right next to the loon's nest island

The loon just sits there keeping the eggs warm....

The ferocious and outraged bird decided to try to chase the photographer away...
