Fire Danger is High

From Fire Chief Tim McDonough: Fire danger is high on the island so no burning is allowed without a permit. Please contact the fire chief if you have any questions.

Misty Sunset

It's no surprise anymore to find emails from Frank Solle in my mailbox, however he continues to amaze me with his beautiful island photos like this one of a sunset taken from the end of Mrs. Redding's Trail. Fabulous job again, Frank.

Getting Ready

Getting ready for the groundbreaking of the Fellowship Center on the 30th required some preparation work as Jim Wojan and crew cleared out trees and heavy brush on Friday, April 14th. At the annual Easter Brunch, Beaver Island Christian Church Moderator, Judi Meister had a huge smile on her face as she pointed out that next year the Brunch would be held in the new building. What a boon it will be for those who have to hustle to change the present church from a worship service into a dining area within minutes - although they do have it down to a science now. Plan on attending the groundbreaking ceremony on April 30th at 11:30 a.m. as this long awaited dream becomes a reality.

Congratulations to Courtney Lynn Moore, daughter of Joe and Phyllis Moore, who will be graduating from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts and a minor in Psychology on May 6th. Watch out Katie Couric!

Easter Egg Hunt a Success

The annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the The AMVETS Post #46 Ladies Auxiliary was a #1 hit with the children again this year as they scrambled to find the hundreds of eggs, filled and hidden by the Catholic Youth Group led by Jacque LaFreniere. A fantastic job was done by all - including the egg hunters!

Don't Forget

The annual Citizen of the Year Banquet is this coming weekend - April 22nd at the Shamrock. You will need a reservation so call soon.

I will be leaving the island on Wednesday due to my youngest daughter having her tonsils out. We hope to return sometime Saturday so if the island suddenly starts to sink Jeff Cashman has agreed to cover the website for me. Thanks sooo much, Jeff. I owe you big time!
