Islanders Lose Two to Mackinac

Mackinac Island was not a good trip for the Beaver Island boys'
basketball team.  After jumping out to early leads in both games (9-5
4:30 into the 1st quarter on Friday and 16-8 after one quarter on
Saturday), the Islanders made the mistake of playing the Lakers' game
and were beaten badly as a result both days.  Friday was a 38-57 final
and Saturday was 47-82 loss.

Beaver Island did not work the ball inside well in either game, settling
for perimeter shots.  This did not work well with the Islanders shooting
under 20% from behind the arc for the weekend.  Mackinac's full-court
press hurt the Islanders as well.  The press breaker was not well
executed and poor passing led to repeated turnovers in both games.

Eric Albin led Beaver Island in points with 13 of Friday night and 21
Saturday morning.  Dan Runberg turned in a solid performance at point
guard and on defense.

Coaches quote:  The goal is to try and make the other team play your
game. When you play your opponent's game instead, it is very tough to
have success.
