Islander Sports

The Lady Islanders are now 4-0 in the Northern Lights League!  Friday night they played Hannahville at Beaver Island with scores of 15-0 and 15-8.  Saturday morning they did it again with scores of 15-5 and 15-3.  Way to go, Ladies!  Keep it up!

The Islanders lost in basketball, but showed significant improvement from their previous game against Mackinac Island in December ( Archives).  The score for the Friday night game was Hannahville 61 and the Islanders 53.  The score for the Saturday morning game was Hannahville 57 and the Islanders 53.  You're doing great team! Keep it up!  We're proud of each of you for your abilities.  One observer commented upon how well you play as a team!

Celebrating 50 Years in the U.S.

Due to incredibly slow snail mail I didn't get notice of this special event until today although the letter from Janet and Richie O'Donnell was sent on December 28th.

It seems that on January 5th, the Port Charlotte, Florida contingency of wintering Beaver Islanders gathered to celebrate the fact, that as of that date, Nancy Cull has been in the United States for fifty years!  Although Nancy is spending the cold months in the south, the rest of the year she can be found in her cozy home at the top of Enoch hill on the island.  Congratulations, Nancy!

Reflections

Although the island seems to be missing out on all the snowstorms, one thing we do have an abundance of is water, and when that water gets cold enough, it freezes.  There aren't many years when it freezes as smoothly as it has this January.  The following photos were taken this morning, January 6th.  Notice the reflections of the buildings across the ice... beautiful.
