Tuesday June 1st, Island Airways Pilot Jim Slough lost his youngest son and home to fire. A memorial fund has been established at the Charlevoix State Bank to help the family out during this great loss. Donations can be dropped off at any Charlevoix State Bank branch or each of the Island Airways offices have donation boxes. Checks should be made out to the Ted Slough Memorial Fund.

At this time funeral arrangements have not been confirmed but as soon as we have this information we will post it. Jim and his family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank you.

Awards Day

Tuesday, June 1st, was Awards Day for the Beaver Island Community School. This year the awards were divided into three different times and took place at the Holy Cross Parish Hall. All children receive some award but the sought after ones are the Citizen of Year and the Student of the Year along with scholarships that the seniors are given. A very special thanks go to Elaine West and Frank Solle for covering the first two ceremonies for me since I had to work in the library all day. Thanks!
