Keith Grassmick's Art Show 2008

Selected Works and Mediums' Exhibition

At 5 p.m. on July 10, 2008, Montaage opened its doors for this young artist's showing of his beautiful paintings, sketches, and artistic renderings. Here are some of the wonderful art that was displayed. Obviously, some photographs will not do justice to the artwork, and may actually diminish the effects presented. All of some may not be present due to poor lighting on the part of the photographer.

Artist Statement

I have been coming up to Beaver Island since I was two weeks old. After completing my degree in illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design this Spring, I am enjoying a summer of exploration. My experience at RISD expanded my understanding of art techniques and allowed me to use my imagination in various mediums. I chose the area of illustration because I like to tell stories and consider my art visual storytelling while I attempt to bring the viewer into the story. I have always been inspired by my childhood picture books, mythology, history, family, and friends. While working, I always need music. It in turn informs our work with another layer of sensation to enhance the story that I have created. Inspiration also comes from face-melting dose of heavy metal. I am presently pursuing a career in the file of graphic novels with compatriots from various art schools. I am also interested in pursuing a career in book covers and concept art work...............................Keith Grassmick
