Ron and Jordan March are very proud to announce that they have a baby sister, Skylar Faith, who was born at 1:34 p.m. November 21st and weighed in at seven pounds and four ounces. Happy parents are Dawn and Bob Marsh. Grandparents are Ladonis and Eleanor Mooney of Beaver Island. Congratulations!
Mark this down on your calendar and don't miss it! There will be eighteen booths for holiday shopping PLUS raffles, baked goods, a cake walk, chili and hot dogs. Come on out and have some holiday fun!
The Islander teams need basketball and volleyball stat/scorekeepers for the following dates: December 5/6, December 19/20, January 16/17 and January 23/24. If you are interested, please call the school at 448-2744 and talk to Kerry Smith.
I have been Safety Patrol supervisor since 1989. It is not an easy job, but the 5th and 6th grade kids are dedicated to the protection of pedestrians in front of our school so they endure wind, rain, fog, snow, and impatient upper classmen. While wrapped in a cheap plastic raincoat, they get splashed by passing cars. Sometimes they stomp back into the classroom with frozen eyelashes and fingers that won't thaw until Math class. I am proud of them. Our school needs this service, and some students, staff, and parents take the time to say thanks. Two parents have even expressed appreciation with baked goodies.
The kids and I would like to ask for better cooperation from the drivers out in front of school. We request that you slow down, park only on the right side of the road, and use your turn signals. The yellow line in front of the school indicates a "no parking or stopping zone", so please don't drop students off in that area. These safe driving habits would make the Safety Patrol job much easier.
Thank you for your support and cooperation.
