Business After Season

Tuesday, October 14, was the Chamber of Commerce Business After Season gathering.  This year the event was held at Deerwood, with hosts Jon and Sally Fogg, who made everyone feel right at home.  After partaking of scrumptious hors'dourves prepared by chef Deborah Harwood, touring the bed and breakfast, and mingling; newest Chamber member Raymond Cole thanked everyone for attending and covered the Chamber's accomplishments over the past year and what the organization hopes to bring about in 2004.  President Kathy Speck, showed how the partnership between the Western Michigan Tourist Association and the Chamber has resulted in wonderful promos for the island and introduced all the Chamber members in attendance.  Chamber manager, Steve West proceeded to reiterate what has been done, what they hope to accomplish in the coming year and in the future years, making Beaver Island a year 'round vacation destination.  All in all it was a lovely ending to a busy season.  Thanks go to the Chamber members and the Foggs for making this a memorable evening.

High Autumn Colors Abound

Last week the colors were just beginning and by this weekend they were at their peak as the maple, oaks and ash danced in the wind showing off their brightly colored dresses.  Milkweed pods burst spraying their bounty about like confetti at a party while the bright red apples gleamed on the trees.  It was a perfect fall weekend and considering how many folks were on the island, a lot must have agreed.  Take a look and remember all small photos are thumbnails and can be clicked on to see the full-sized picture.  Use your "back" button to return to this page.
